…and goes for laughs at His Holiness’s expense, too. All this in Thursday night’s opening segment. Here it is — what do you think?

This was great. I love that the writers can create 6 minutes of funny jokes on this topic.

I laughed at the beginning, but the piece with John Oliver was in pretty bad taste, no? Made me cringe.

I first saw this and immediately thought about sending it onto The Worst Horse. I find it all funny. In bad taste? Definitely it does prod my more delicate attachments to HH The Dalai Lama and Buddhism in general. But I imagine him laughing at this with me. And I can’t ignore the underlying subtext to it all: Buddhism as an open plane onto which ideas of peace and civility can be reflected.

On second viewing: It was in bad taste. A specialty of The Daily Show. Also still funny.

I loved this topic, and it really brought the irony, and the idiocracy of our government’s unwillingness to meet with H.H. the Dalai Lama. Daily show writers really hit the funny bone on this, but showed the weakness of our government’s posture as well.
