Kylesa: rockin’ the three poisons

I had heard/heard of the band Kylesa, but dunno how I didn’t put this together — not least of all because the band is tight and touring with the mighty Mastodon, one of the greatest bands ever – but, anyway, according to The Aquarian:

“The name Kylesa is a deliberate misspelling of ‘kilesa mara,’ which is a Buddhist term defined as ‘anything that would hinder one from reaching enlightenment or nirvana, such as greed, aversion, or delusion.’ Those negative aspects of life are what influences Kylesa’s music, which integrates bits of sludge, punk, metal, effects, and heavy guitars to create an avant-garde experimental sound fused with psychedelic rock.”

Anyway, a pretty cool band. If they sound like your kinda thing: you can hear ‘em here.
