Big thanks to the reader (who shall remain anonymous) who sends this one on:
“[I met this guy who] started a new tequila company called Karma Tequila. I played dumb and asked him what karma was, and he said, ’cause and effect.’ And I asked what cause and effect had to do with a name for a tequila brand, and he just said that it was the only name that they all agreed sounded great. So no reason, really. He did mention that, in the name of karma, the company gives back some of their proceeds to causes.
“I exercised a lot of control trying to keep my trap shut when he was going off about the name: ‘Imagine it branching out into branded cocktails: the Karmatini, the Karmapolitan, and get this … the Karmarita!’ I almost keeled over!”
…Yes, folks: “Karma Tequila.” Of course, right? …and you can see it on their site, here. I particularly like the “store” which includes the simple selling-line, “Buy Karma.” (Okay, maybe “like” isn’t the right word…)

As a Mexican I am always suspicious of export-only Tequilas, they tend to be just the same I can buy at the supermarket, just bottled in a fancy way and bearing a fancy name. But Karma? Well, kinda better than the “Black Death” Tequila I found in Prague, with “Made in England” in the label. At least Karma (?) is produced in the correct place and in the correct way.

To be fair though, if you get smashed on tequila, it will have the consequence that you feel like crap the next morning.

I tasted Karma tequila last night and am blown away at the taste, quality and overall smoothness of the tequila. I have been drinking tequila for years and am thrilled to see a few new brands that appear to be doing something right. In reading the comment above, by the so called “Karma Police”….I am laughing as what a refreshing concept to have a liquor company that actually gives back…. What angst and seems to be someone who needs to get off their :high horse” and get a life! Whoever is doing, making, or drinking Karma Tequila, well done & keep it up! I was very impressed and am sitting here online looking to buy some! It ws seriously some of the best tequila I have ever had….. TASTER!!!

It is SO obvious that employees of the tequila company wrote the last two responses. At least I hope so. I would really hate to think that anyone would get that hyped up about a consumer product. Have we really become the perfect buying machines our croporations are trying to create, or are these Karma Tequila people trying to pull one?

I drank the Karmalitas, got drunk, and didn’t have a hangover the next day. It wasn’t acidic like some tequilas. I’m sold.

GREAT tequila, and NO, I don’t work for them! How sad Francesca, that you believe anyone who likes this product and posts a positive comment, must work for the company. I think you need a drink!

I think Karma is a wonderful name and I think it is also wonderful that a company gives back to charities. Pity Whoever this worsthorse critic is has to hide behind a fictitious name. I believe in Karma, real Karma and the tequila. It is a good name, concept, and tequila. I am not employed by, nor affiliated with Karma Tequila. I am a nurse that can appreciate a creative concept and a generous company. Francesca, get a life. I’m sure you can find something positive to say about something, rather than criticize opinions of people you don’t know. Have you tried Karma Tequila. Maybe you should before criticizing.
