The “holiest” of comedy teams?

“Can an atheist, a Hindu, a Christian, a Muslim and a Buddhist go on the road together, share a stage and be an example of how to get along?” That is the question the comedians of the “Coexist? Comedy Tour” pose. Their answer? “Probably not, but our failures should be good for some laughs.”

Pictured here is Sammy “The Buddhist” Obeid, who is apparently an actual Buddhist. He’s “from UC Berkeley, of course,” reads a line about him from the group’s most recent press release… And he sports a Target-store Buddha shirt on his website. But is he funny onstage? Does the “Coexist?” conceit work?

Unfortunately, the East Coast-based Horse can’t tell you, but if you’re gonna be in LA tonight, or San Francisco on Saturday night, you can go and then share your review here.

First off, I should say that I’m completely biased since I’m on the tour with Sammy Obeied (the Buddhist) but then again as one of the producers I obviously believe strongly that Sammy is hilarious which is why I agreed to book him. :)

He is an amazing comedian. Sammy won The Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Competition and The San Jose Improv Comedy Competition in the same year, a feat never before accomplished by any comic. And he has been preforming for less than two years! I hope you do get a chance to see him. I know you’ll be glad you did.
