The Very Rev. Danny Fisher writes:
“I’ve enjoyed the first two ‘Altar Madness’ entries. I thought I’d submit a snap of my own.
“Here is a brief explanation. For the last two-and-a-half years, I haven’t lived in the same place for more than a few months at a time. Most of my regular altar has been boxed up and packed away for a long while now: in the apartments and homes I lived in before going nomad, I kept a shrine room or more significant area. Right now, though, I’m making do with a dresser top, so I’ve cobbled together a few items to make up a sacred space. At the center is a wooden statue of the Buddha emaciated after his ascetic practice. I purchased this in Bodh Gaya, India, from the man who carved it, outside the Mahabodhi Temple. An image of the temple is framed to left of the Buddha statue. Between those two objects is a candle with an image of Milarepa on it. This was given to me by my good friend Ven. Hue Hai (http://amonkamok.typepad.com).
