Alejandro Jodorowsky talks Buddhism (and more) in new issue of Arthur magazine

The new issue of freebie “counterculture” publication Arthur includes an autobiographical article by filmmaker (and Buddhist-inspired comix author) Alejandro Jodorowsky, in which he discusses — among other things — “his encounters with the Japanese Zen monk Ejo Takada.”

Jodorowsky talks about what led him to Buddhist practice and to Takada, whom he calls his “first true master,” recounting their time practicing together at a zendo in Mexico City. It’s a great read — no surprise there, though.

You can download a PDF that includes the article here.

And in other Celebrity news, good old Nate at Precious Metal has discovered that Sarah Jessica Parker seems to be the newest Hollywood “JewBu.”

Also, the ever-lovable George Takei (star of ABC’s Heroes and, of course, Star Trek) came out on the Howard Stern Show this week. No, he didn’t break the news that he’s gay. That would hardly be news for the very out-and-proud Takei. Instead, he gave voice to the fact that he’s Buddhist.

To be fair, he’s mentioned it before, so this wasn’t much of a revelation, but it was news to the Horse. Live long and practice, George!
