New music from hip-hop duo Shambhala!

Shambhala is back!

Looks like the gold chains of gangsta rap and the Africa medallions of the all-but-lost “conscious rap” movement of the late 80s and early 90s have been replaced — by the BIGGEST MALAS YOU’VE EVER SEEN.

Luckily, musically and lyrically, Shambhala bridges the gap between those two forms of hip-hop music. They’ve got gangsta swagger (“swagga”?) and lyrics that go beyond “conscious” and into the realm of the bodhisattva.

Good to hear from them again. Can’t WAIT for the new album, “The Return of the Silent Dragons.” They promise it’s coming.

Til then, stay tuned (and hear more) by going to their MySpace page, here.

Not too bad, needs some work. Hopefully there will be more to come. I love African Sunflower. Who is the chick on the track, she can spit!!!! Thought it was a cameo by miss hill. The last dude on that track sucks, sounds like Proswell from the fugees. Other that that 2 stars. 5 start for African Sunflower.

A few years back I had the pleasure of photographing this awesome duo. A few shots appear in the video. To this day I remain impressed by their unwavering dedication. This music is food for thought! They really deserve all the best. Thanks for spreading the word and the music.
